Getting back on line

Well, it has been a while since I have logged on. There has been a lot going on. Marilyn is finally getting her bone marrow transplant today so keep her in your prayers. She will find out in 1-14 days if it worked. If it works she will hopefully be able to come home in May.

We did go camping to Garner State Park this past weekend. The only bad day was Sat. and we came back into town for a funeral anyway so it did not matter. Larry's uncle, Carlos Young, passed away. Now back to the camping trip. Vicki and Rick went also and Vicki hates the hikes I pick out because they are "uphill both ways". She asked at the front office about an easy hike and they drew on off for her. So Sunday, which was a beautiful day, we set out on this "easy" hike. It took us 2 1/2 hours and we were going up rocky craigs and down washed out gullies and I just laughed because I got to go on my kind of hike, but didn't have to take the blame. It was great. Here are some pics of the vistas we were able to see from the "easy hike". Vicki is never going to hear the end of it.

It was nice to get away. We are planning on taking the grandkids at the beginning of June and we are looking forward to that and I think they are, too.
It is finally going up---the deck that is. We need to get it finished first so that we can get in and out of the bathroom upstairs without schlepping everything through the house. It will still be a while, but it is further than it was.

Rena is doing fine. Not working much right now, but hopefully that will pick up as the weather gets better. Keep your fingers crossed for her, she needs the work.

Until next time.

Nothing much going on

Just wanted to let you all know that we are still kicking. Larry, Marvin and Frances went to see Marilyn and Jerald in Houston on Sat. and Marilyn is doing pretty good considering what she has gone through. She is scheduled for the bone marrow transplant on Feb. 20 with Feb. 14 being the beginning of whatever it is they have to do first. This is only if everything stays stable so keep praying for her so that she can get this done and start on the road to recovery.

We are planning another camping trip on President's Day weekend to Garner State Park. Need to go there before all of San Antonio shows up there like they do in the summertime.

My computer is fixed and working great and I will start to send pics again when I can remember to bring mine to work.

Everybody stay well and I will check in again soon.

Potter's Creek

We had a really nice time at Potter's Creek Campground on Canyon Lake. The weather was pretty nice, although the wind did pick up on Sat. while we were on the lake and we got pretty wet by the time we got back to the dock (of course we were on the other side of the lake when the wind picked up). It was very relaxing otherwise. We even drove on the Guadalupe River Road and realized how lucky we are to have the Willow Creek to swim in and float on. I can't even imagine how crowed that area must be in the summer months. We may drive it just to see. I will try to post some pics sometime, but my computer is having some issues right now and until my compuer nerd daughter (lowe ya D'Lynn) can get it fixed it runs too slow to get anything accomplished. We plan on going camping in Feb. to Garner State Park and we are looking forward to that.

Larry has slowly been working the the bathroom and deck upstairs. He did get the mortar out of in between the rocks and got some of it remudded. There is a really big rock over the door that has to come out so he has been trying to figure out how to do that without it dropping to the floor and going all the way through to the cellar. That would not be good. Will keep you updated on the progress, but it is slow.

Camp on

Well we are finally going camping again. We are going to Potter's Creek on Canyon Lake. We may or may not take the boat, depends on the weather. We are both looking forward to getting away for a little while. Larry has all of next week off so I think the addition will be getting worked on if the weather is nice (has lots of outside stuff to do first). Will try to send pics of Potter's Creek when we get back. So just think of us sitting around a fire, drinking a cool one and just "kicking back". Later.

Christmas and New Years

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a wonderful start to the new year. We ate too much, partied and visited a lot with family and friends, in other words we had a really nice time and it was great seeing everyone. Things are starting to get back to normal and even though it will be hard to go back to work for a full week, it will be good to get back into my old rut (apparently I like my rut and am comfortable there). Ashlyn and Colten will be showing Pork Chop and Ham this Saturday at the Mason Stockshow so we will be heading for Mason for that and hope they do well. It is always fun to watch the little ones try to herd the pigs around since they are bigger than they are. Will post some pics when my computer is working faster again (it decided to not turn on one day and my computer-gifted daughter is working on it).

Marilyn seems to be doing well for the time being and is awaiting more testing so that the bone marrow transplant can be done sometime this month. Keep her in your prayers.

Have a wonderful, blessed, healthy and fun new year.

Getting ready for Christmas

How in the world did Christmas get here so fast? Have had two shopping expeditions (one with D'Lynn in which I got most of the shopping done and one with Shell which was very relaxing and we even had time for a movie). Shell and I had not been shopping together for years so that was fun. Even got to see Nicki and Randy and got to see Nicki's engagement ring (Randy did good).

Larry has a sub now and is going to have off this Thur., Fri, and Sat. He is sure looking forward to that.

Marilyn is in Houston now having chemo treatments and has to be in isolation for 4-5 weeks. We will miss her terribly at Christmas. They hope to do the bone marrow transplant right after this so I am praying that everything goes well. Pray for her and her family.

We have lots of things to keep us busy. I am hosting Bunco Christmas at my house this Thur. and Dr. Walton is taking the entire office (spouses included)to Bejas to eat and then to the Rock Box on Friday evening. Have not been there yet, but I have heard nothing but good things about the show so I am looking forward to that.

Rena gets to come home for Christmas so we are looking forward to seeing her.

If I don't log on again everyone have a wonderful and blessed Christmas with your family and friends and a great New Year.

Good news

Well, looks like Larry will finally get a sub for his route. They moved here from Oregon and he is going to work at PEC and she used to sub up there and has a vehicle all set up with right-hand drive. She is supposed to start learning the route on Thur. (tomorrow) so we will see. He sure hopes she works out so he can be home on Saturdays again and get stuff done at home (or go for 3-day camping trips). Other than that we are just getting ready for Christmas. Ho, ho, ho.
